When Hurricane Sandy hit the shore town of Manasquan, New Jersey Adanna worked hard to make sure many of the children's voices were heard through an initiative set forth by my daughter, Jessica Waldeyer who first began writing her story in the basement of her grandmother's home when time stood still in the wake of Sandy. In June 2013, Adanna published over 40 essays written by 7th and 8th graders about their experiences, those who were victims of Sandy and those who contributed to the town's recovery through volunteer work. Proceeds made from the sales of the book were donated to help families through the Manasquan Ministerium. Hurricane Sandy: Students Speak Out is available for Fundraising Efforts and events.
